We've Got to Do Better!

Here's a fact.....according to me.

Just like most, I am disheartened at the verdict in the George Zimmerman trial. In the wake of this verdict, I've seen NUMEROUS Facebook,Twitter, and Instagram posts. You can repost as many pictures and write as many Facebook statuses sharing your opinion on the matter. However, I ask you, what is your call to action? What are you going to do to impact change in this world? Of course, things are not going to get better on its own. You must do something. It only takes one!

Are you going to take the time to visit a website to sign one of the many petitions that are floating around the net? Are you going to join a rally?  Are you going to join an organization that actively seeks change in our community?

Community. We are so quick to take a stance against others that bring harm to our community, but what about when we bring on that harm ourselves? Our children can't read. I shudder every time I'm in a meeting going over test results and African American students are always at the bottom of the list, with the lowest passing rate. What about the fact that we allow our little girls to idolize the women they see on Basketball Wives and Love and Hip Hop? We can't continue like this.

So, again I ask, what is your call to action? What are you going to do to impact change in this world? It only takes one!

I wasn't going to touch this subject, but I had to.

What I'm about...

Hey y'all! Yes, I'm a southern gal, but I'm currently living in the big city, Brooklyn to be exact. I wanted to explain why I've begun to blog. I love fashion, putting looks together, accessorizing, and doing makeup. There are times when I put these looks together that I want to share the inspiration behind it. I’ve seen multiple bloggers and vloggers do it, so why can’t I? Well, here we go. Now, I am not a fashion guru. I just know what I like and what I hope looks good on my curves.

What’s my style? I’ve always been partial to business casual even in high school. I love a “preppy” look. In addition, I love to be comfortable. This is first priority, don’t you think? For me, heels are not very comfortable. I prefer flats. I still give heels a go, however. So this is what you’ll see most often but not all of the time.

Where do I grab inspiration? Everywhere. When I’m watching television shows, I take note of what the characters are wearing. While reading magazines, I take note. While viewing Pinterest (follow me), I take note. While watching my favorite YouTubers display their OOTDs, I take note. When I’m out on the streets of NYC, I take note. Fashion is everywhere, and I’m always taking note!

So, this blog is called Curvy Fashion and Facts.  It’s not just about fashion. I’ll also share facts about my everyday life, especially things that really move me – headlines, my job, love life (as nonexistent as it is...), etc.

**Update: This blog is titled "Cute, Curvy, and Uncensored" Things have changed, and I'm now more interested in headlines and issues affecting us daily. So, here are my thoughts raw and uncut....

Welcome to this journey and I hope you enjoy the ride.
